WHAT'S INSIDE YOUR LANGLY?

My Mamiya 6 medium format camera dangles from my Langly strap no matter where I go. A camera is never far and from the second I put that Langly strap on, I was hooked. It has yet to let me down and is a constant source of conversation.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO EXPLORE?

The natural world and all that it gives is what drives and motivates me the most. I have never been short on dreams and photography is a powerful tool to nudge me out of bed in the morning and honestly, sometimes is the only reason I choose to push for that next peak or board that next long train ride. There are many things in this world that there are abundances of and time is not one of them. I set out to live the life of my choosing and I will always be hugely grateful to photography for that ...

WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR INSPIRATION?

I find inspiration in quiet moments on the road whether in a car or train or hike or what have you. Mountains especially have always been a huge inspiration that I have constantly gravitated towards. They are a power much larger than myself and just by being in them and through the reflection and energy that they offer, my work and ideas grow.

FILM VS DIGITAL?

Film forever. The dynamic range, aesthetic, and atmosphere of a film photograph are to me still unmatched by digital cameras. Not to say digital does not have its own advantages but a film scan has the ability to take me right back to the moment I took the picture with ...

WHAT'S YOUR MOST MEMORABLE PHOTO?

I have a hard time being critical or praising my own work so this is tough. I will say that a photo that sticks out in my mind is shot of Annapurna I, which is the 10th highest peak in the world, at sunset in the Himalayas of Nepal. This photo constantly comes to mind because it was one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen and a scene that I believe only film could truly do justice. It was pure magic.
